Youth
Programs
The Center for Workforce Development is a gateway for comprehensive
youth programs in the county. The programs for young people ages 14 to
21 are guided by our local youth council.
Under the Workforce Investment Act, youth programs are designed to focus
on longer-term academic and occupational learning for 14 to 21 year olds
in the Jefferson County. These programs do so both by providing services
directly and by providing appropriate linkages for young people to best
practices programs that already exist in the community.
The Workforce Investment Act is a federally funded program designed to
assist eligible youth in achieving academic and employment success. Services
are designed to meet the needs of students, high school graduates, dropouts,
and others who are in need of employment and training assistance.
